Marxism
Marxism
Scientific socialism Marxism wasn't considered a philosophy by Marx. It's common knowledge to anyone to have researched into him as a person that he was uncomfortable with it.
The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it.
He interpreted a fantasy political system, making it into an ideology. How is that science?

>implying that's not what all ideological thinkers do
It's a dumb name but was coined to distinguish it from previously existing utopian socialism.
Marx and Engels believed their work to be based on the scientific method; held to an empirical standard, observations being necessary for development, and hence can be changed or falsified as history continues to progress.
But yh scientific socialism is a ridiculous term which is why it's basically never used. They're referring to science more in a social context than... chemistry and shit.
BTW If Marx was alive, he'd totally be a long-time member of DnE.

it's basically a 'science' in the sense that there's a method of understanding society/how it can be changed which is open to revision
also because it's anti-utopian, marx and engels take a cue from hegel and realise that the only way you can actually put forward any kind of argument for a new way of organising society without it being utopian bullshit is to see the seeds of that society existing today (basically marxism is a phenomenology - a theory based on developing truth out of immediacy/essence out of appearances)
Wesianism
I'm the most pretentious motherfucker there is don't question my cred
Question. Your cred?

I literally could not hate a group of people more than I hate the people who use darknedgy.net

Yeah I like it.
When in doubt, move north. God bless suomi.
After interacting with a few Žižek fanboys, I'd say that the "Hegelian" philosophy peddled by the /leftypol/ irc fags can git fugged
Half of what zizek says is literally nonsense
*Sniffles* Pure ideology
Juche - Irrelevant, unless you are unfortunate enough to be in North Korea. But, any philosophy that has a presence of a "great leader" is pretty pretentious.
Clericalism - I am convinced that churches have positions to give "purpose" to those who could not make a living anywhere else. That, and a title to sound cool. Hell, maybe I should start a religion. Bishop Green1. Pretentious? Probably. But, being a priest is actually a job that requires fundraising, event planning, budgeting, running programs, even military operations, etc - even if the religion is BS and priests are not really that important in the scheme of things unless you are a diehard zealot.
Objectivism - As much as they detest the leeching, worthless, Problem is if you go off to County Club heaven with only members of the country club, who is going to cook, wait tables, and mow the golf course? Yeah, pretentious. But more just having a shitty religion.
LaVeyan Satanism: Atheism with a touch of objectivism now with cool black wardrobes! I am sure for check for a few hundred, you can be a bonafide satanist, too. At least they know to troll folks hard that deserve it.
Transcendental Meditation: Didn't these guys whimper off into obscurity by the 1980s or get folded into various New Age movements of the 90s? Meditation B.S. though has been a weapon in the arsenal of many pretentious folks and just shifts names. Higher up with Yoga certs, McDojos, etc all are in this business to some degree. This is more of a scam in pink dolphin wrapping that has been regifted for hundreds of years like a bad Christmas gift.
Anti-intellectualism - I agree, it is impossible to know everything and folks that use jargon all the time to confuse people are annoying and sometimes are just using big words to hide stuff. But, someone actively seeing to prevent knowledge smacks of someone who wants control and totalitarianism or a cushy position in such a future. Both pretentious and scary and more common than you think. The whole idea that "I am succesful, so I don't need to know shit so I am a genius" is not only pretentious but can take a lot of people with them. Also, ALL items on this list depend on an anti-intellectualist stance.
Dialectical Materialism - WTF? I had to google that shit. Ahh... some communist party line. Okay, yeah I can agree a lot of conflicts are based on materail resources whether this be a deposit of oil or housing or jobs. An academic term. Maybe it would be something cool to say wearing a Che shirt so you sound all sophisticated at an infoshop. Nevermind you have a 250K trust fund and are just pretending to be a hobo. Can be pretentious outside of hardcore economic theory discussions. But, really irrelevant.
WINNER: Anti- intellectualism.
LaVeyan satanism also has ~~magic~~ and dumb arbitrary rules
If it was more like pastafarianism but meant to trigger Christians then I'd be okay with it, though s8n has gotten pretty old by now

Hah! I knew a satanist. His shtick was dressing up in Catholic priest outfit with the most expensive upside down pentagram Satan holy symbol he could panhandle money for between sofa surfing and getting fired from jobs and attempting to read Tarot cards for dumb tourists..
More pathetic at times than pretentious, but that could be said of a lot of the "born again Wiccans" of that era as well.
Dude eventually straightened himself up, eschewed the Satan Priest persona and became a promoter.
Optimism seems pretentious. Lol everything is great haha. No fuck you
maybe nothing is good or bad and everything is meaningless unless you choose some dumb axioms or something, like, blargrh

Wrong kind of optimism. "Everything is on fire, but at some point there won't be fuel for the fire no more and stuff will cool down" is more like it.
When in doubt, move north. God bless suomi.
