That's stretching it somewhat, since at least nominally many parties are based on ideas that are not part of one's immutable characteristics/phenotypes. Neither is economic class immutable, but the significance it's given in Marxism make it more-or-less close. The "working class" exists as an ideal type and historic role regardless of any individual member of the working class' consciousness. Leninism is all about waking up the sheeple top-down whether they want to or not, whereas left commies are about waiting for the sheeple to wake up and organize bottom-up.
